Meche...

Wow, Gil Meche gets $55 million over five years. He went 11-8 last year and struck out 156 in 186 innings and a 4.65 ERA. Sure, he's only 28, but his past years show that unless he has a big breakout year(15 wins, 175 K, 4.00 ERA), he's not worth that money. I'm glad they signed him, but the money is crazy. Not sure if the team has any money left to spend, and if not, will Meche be enough to turn the team around? I don't mind signing a pitcher that will help turn the staff around, but the hitting was never that great either. A contract this big might mean fans will have to wait to see the batting order bolstered.

Back to Meche, he's given up a hit an inning on average for his career and has never pitched more than 186 innings. He's had some decent years, but nothing worth $11 million a year.

So, how do you guys see it?
