Meche's Debut

New KC starter Gil Meche pitched a solid three innings today against the Texas Rangers, giving up two hits, a walk and striking out one batter. It was a good start, but spring training games mean next to nothing. Still, when you pay that much money, it's good to see positive signs.

Also nice to see Ryan Shealy go deep, something that could happen regularly during the season. It's hard not to read much into spring training games. When you go without baseball for four months, it's difficult not to overanalyze every little stat.

The Royals and Rangers meet again tomorrow.

So, with spring training games now here, what are you looking for in the box scores? What don't you care about(other than the win-lose record)?
