Meche's Second Game

Today's game was probably more like Gil Meche's career averages and less like his Royals debut. He struck out four, walked two and gave up eight hits over seven innings in a 6-5 loss to the Tigers.

Perhaps more disturbing were the four home runs. Still, the team wasn't blown out and managed to come back from a 4-1 deficit to tie up the game before it slipped away.

On the plus side, KC is 2-3 and has played well in all but one of those games.
Esteban German and Reggie Sanders both had strong games. On the flip side, Mike Sweeney is batting .133 and went 0-for-4 on the day.

Jeremy Bonderman will finish off the series against the Royals in a game I would love to see them win just to get back to .500. There's no reason to panic yet, but a few more days of good, solid pitching would be nice.

Overall, after five games the team is playing hard and giving themselves a chance to win. I think it will come down to starting pitching.
